SAMETI organises a three-day training programme on integrated livestock management for agriculture officers in Medziphema.
DIMAPUR — The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a three-day training programme for officers from the Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries on “Entrepreneurial opportunities through integrated livestock management” in Medziphema from September 3 to the 5th.
According to an update, the training was held with the objective of enhancing the knowledge and skills of extension functionaries on livestock-based enterprises and integrated farming approaches.
In his keynote address, Bodevi Shuya, Director of SAMETI and Principal of Integrated Extension Training Centre, stressed the need to focus on promoting livestock management as a viable source of entrepreneurship, income generation, and sustainable livelihood.
The resource persons included Dr. T Gyaneshori Devi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Livestock Production Management, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (COVSC and AH), Central Agricultural University (CAU), Jalukie; Imkumri Jamir, Proprietor of Jenlik Farm; Dr. Mhatung, Deputy Director of Chief Veterinary Office, Dimapur; T Senchumo Yanthan, Area Coordinator of Farm Livelihood, Niuland Rural Development Block; Dr. Laishram Sunitibala Devi, Scientist at Indian Council of Agricultural Research - National Research Centre (ICAR-NRC) on Mithun; and Dr. Jyotish Barman, Scientist (Fisheries) at ICAR, Jharnapani.
The training concluded with evaluation and feedback, followed by discussion and interaction with the participants.
