DIMAPUR — Salesian College of Higher Education celebrated its freshers’ day at its premises on Saturday, during which Paslein Patrick was crowned Mr. Fresher, while Aloysia was crowned Ms. Fresher.
According to an update, the principal, Dr. Paul Punii, in his address, emphasised the essential qualities that underpin a successful college life—perseverance, diligent hard work, and the importance of earning the trust and favour of teachers through sincerity and respect.
He also underscored the virtue of honesty, reminding the students that integrity forms the foundation upon which their character and future are built.
During the event, Nikika, the managing director of NPSC Mentors, awarded a prize of INR 20,000 to Francis Jangkhohao Haokip, who emerged victorious in the INKSPIRE: All Nagaland Inter-college Essay Competition 2025, on the topic, "25 Years of Hornbill Festival: Critically Examine Its Success and Failures”.

Nikika, on the occasion, urged the students to understand that becoming a doctor, engineer, administrator, or any professional is not merely about passing exams but about cultivating the respective qualities from the outset.
He reinforced the idea that the attitude of what one aspires to be should be nurtured now, as these virtues shape one’s character and future career.
To conclude the day’s festivities, a volleyball match was organised, pitting the freshers against the seniors in friendly competition.
