Sakhabama Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho hosted the first Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament with 22 teams from Nagaland, Manipur and Assam.

DIMAPUR — Sakhabama Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (SBKK) has organised the first edition of the Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament on October 2 at the Sakhabama local ground on the theme “Let your action shine”.
An update from SBKK stated that a total of 22 teams participated in the tournament, representing almost all districts of Nagaland. It added that the event also drew participants from Manipur and Assam.
The matches were conducted under the supervision and guidance of the Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA), which served as the match officials.
In the final, Zing Zing emerged as the champion of the tournament and walked away with a cash prize of INR 40,000, while Zenith Kezo town secured the 1st runner-up position with a cash prize of INR 30,000 and Spike Squad Kohima and United Spikers Kohima finished as semifinalists.

In the individual awards, the best spiker went to Vimechozo Thupre of Zenith Kezo town, while the best setter was awarded to K Abinash of Zing Zing from Kezo town.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, the EAC of Kezocha and special guest Limakumla Pongener encouraged the youth to embrace sportsmanship and discipline, noting that today’s young people are highly enthusiastic about sports.
She highlighted that while the origins of sports could be traced back to ancient Greece, the modern Olympic Games were revived to promote peace and understanding among nations, celebrate the achievements of the human body and encourage international fellowship and goodwill.
The closing ceremony was attended by Neilasanu Sachü, assistant research officer of the Art and Culture Department, as the valedictory guest.
