Sainik School Punglwa concluded its annual sports meet with athletic finals and the launch of its school magazine and cadet newsletter.

KOHIMA — Sainik School Punglwa concluded its Annual Sports (Athletic) Meet on Friday with a ceremony graced by Principal Col. (Dr.) Smita Misra as the chief guest. The three-day event, which began on December 3, featured cultural performances, athletic competitions, and the release of two school publications.
According to an update, a key highlight of the programme was the launch of Vibrant Strings, the school’s annual magazine, and Voice of the Young Warriors of the Morung (VYWOM), a half-yearly newsletter documenting the creative work and activities of cadets.
The meet included performances such as an aerobic display, flag exercise and cultural dance, followed by the finals of the 100-metre race, 4x200m relay, 4x100m relay and high jump. Girl cadets also competed in the 4x100m relay final.
Medals, certificates and trophies were presented across the three days by Gp Capt P Ravi Kumar (Retd), Officiating Vice Principal and Administrative Officer Sqn Ldr Vimal Attri, and Col. Misra.

Pauna House won the junior category trophy, while Japfu House lifted the senior category title. Among individual performers, Nepuni Osah of Doyang House and Mathiuchun of Pauna House emerged as the fastest cadets in the senior and junior boys’ categories. In the girls’ categories, Sanghavi A Saikia and Ongarhoni Y Ngullie won gold in the 100-metre dash.
Addressing the gathering, Col. Misra congratulated the cadets and staff for the successful conduct of the meet. She praised the enthusiasm, discipline and sportsmanship displayed throughout the competitions, and encouraged cadets to balance celebrations with daily study and attention to their health.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Sqn Ldr Attri, followed by the national anthem.
