S Keoshu Yimkhiung inaugurated the 36th Chessore Area Sports Association Annual Football Tournament at Chessore headquarters.

DIMAPUR — The 36th edition of the Chessore Area Sports Association (CASA) Annual Football Tournament, organised in collaboration with Sansad Khelo Mahotsav, was inaugurated at Chessore headquarters on Tuesday.
According to an update, the tournament was declared open by S Keoshu Yimkhiung, MLA and advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, and chairman of DPDB Shamator district.
In his address, the advisor emphasised that sports, traditionally viewed as a means of entertainment and physical exercise, have now evolved into a multifaceted activity that significantly contributes to the overall development of an individual.
He stated that modern research identifies sports as contributing to four key domains of development—physical, psychological, social, and academic or professional.

Keoshu further remarked that sports are not a peripheral activity but a fundamental component of holistic development, stating that they build strong bodies, resilient minds, and cohesive communities.
He stressed that integrating sports into daily life is essential for nurturing individuals who are physically healthy, emotionally balanced, socially adept, and equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in all areas of life.
The tournament is seeing participation from nine football clubs from the area.
