DIMAPUR — The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) and the Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) have jointly appealed to the state government to restore and develop the Kohima–Dimapur road via Zhadima–Tsogin–Niuland, describing it as the only viable alternative route between the state capital and commercial hub.
In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the organisations stated that despite its immense utility, the road has long been neglected. They said the route has the potential to serve as an all-season road that could ease traffic congestion on the main highway, but its present deplorable condition has made it nearly unusable.
The RSZ and WSYF asserted that commuters, transporters and the general public who depend on the road are facing immense hardship. They urged the concerned department to take cognisance of the matter and immediately initiate measures for its restoration.

Calling for urgent action, the organisations demanded that the government prioritise repairing, upgrading and preparing the Zhadima–Tsogin–Niuland road into a reliable all-weather road, terming it not only a matter of convenience but also of necessity.
They further maintained that restoring the road would benefit not only Kohima and Dimapur but also inter-district commuters who rely on the route.
Reaffirming their demand, the RSZ and WSYF said the call was made in the interest of all communities who stand to benefit from the connectivity, and urged the government to act without further delay.
