Rongmei community in Guwahati marked its 7th Charuangc Khatni Zawthanh Kariumei, celebrating identity, culture, and youth achievements.

DIMAPUR — The Rongmei community of Guwahati celebrated its 7th Charuangc Khatni Zawthanh Kariumei (cultural and freshers' meet) on the theme “Reaffirming identity, shaping futures” at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre Auditorium, Guwahati, on October 2.
According to an update, the event witnessed participation from the Rongmei community residing in Guwahati, including a large number of freshers.
It was attended by chief guest Chaitali Panmei, former principal chief commissioner of Income Tax, North Eastern Region, Government of India, and guest of honour Rev. TP Mordecai, associate secretary, EFI North East.
It said that their messages, shared on the theme, resonated with the audience, reaffirming the unique identity of the Rongmei people. They also encouraged the freshers to embrace their academic journeys and strive for excellence in their chosen fields.

The celebration featured a display of Rongmei culture and traditions as well as a variety of performances, including cultural songs, traditional dances such as Laudy Laem (Paddy Threshing Dance) and Pheydak Laem (Weaving Dance), presentations of traditional attire, Pazeihmei (community singing and dancing), and Huay Kauhmei (Rongmei traditional chant by men).
Highlights of the event included the selection of Mister and Miss Freshers and the Rongmei Talent Hunt, which showcased the enthusiasm and talent of young Rongmei participants.
The event was jointly organised by the Rongmei Phwam, Guwahati (RPG), and the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation, Guwahati (RNSOG).
