Naga Students’ Union Bangalore hosts 56th freshers’ meet
Members, dignitaries, and guests during the NSUB’s 56th freshers’ meet-cum-Nagas’ Night at St. Joseph’s University Auditorium, Bengaluru, on October 2.


DIMAPUR — The Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) hosted its 56th freshers’ meet-cum-Nagas’ Night at St. Joseph’s University Auditorium, Bengaluru, on October 2 on the theme “Anchored in identity, rising with leadership”.


According to an update, the annual event, a long-standing tradition of NSUB, welcomed new students while showcasing the cultural heritage of the Nagas. The celebration drew over 2,500 students, dignitaries, and well-wishers.


In her presidential address, NSUB President Nungsangmongla Ozukum emphasised the relevance of the year’s theme. She stated that the identity of the Naga people, rooted in their culture, values, faith, and heritage, should be regarded as a foundation for progress rather than a barrier. She added that the world needs leaders who are authentic, visionary, and grounded in service.


The chief guest, Abu Metha, advisor to the chief minister of Nagaland, chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), along with guest speaker Dr. Adaina, professor at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, were present at the event.

The programme also featured various performances, artistic showcases, and the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2025. Mughatolu Swu from the Sumi community and Worchuipem P from the Tangkhul community were declared Mr. and Ms. Fresher NSUB 2025 respectively.


The titles of Ms. Popularity and Mr. Popularity went to Sungnem Sutila from the Lamkang community and Randanbemo B Shitiri from the Lotha community.
