DIMAPUR — In a landmark initiative to enhance healthcare access for the Naga community in Bengaluru, the Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangalore Baptist Hospital (BBH), one of the city’s leading not-for-profit medical institutions.

The MoU, signed on September 30 at Bangalore Baptist Hospital, will ensure that Nagas residing in Bangalore can now avail concession on inpatient, outpatient and other healthcare services of up to 30% at BBH, the NSUB stated in an update.

In addition, Nagas with special or economically challenged backgrounds will be considered for higher concession.

The agreement was formally signed between Dr. Spurgeon R, Director CEO of Bangalore Baptist Hospital, and Nungsangmongla Ozukum, president of NSUB, in the presence of Davidson D (Sr. Associate – Operations and Service promotion BBH), Onenlemla Imsong (Chaplain of BBH), Tsivyo Kasom (Advisor of NSUB), and NSUB’s sub-unit representative from the Ao community.

The NSUB expressed gratitude to Onenlemla Imsong whose tireless efforts in identifying and assisting economically challenged patients paved the way for this partnership.

The union also acknowledged the leadership of Nungsangmongla Ozukum, whose commitment guided NSUB in achieving “this milestone for the welfare of the Naga community,” it stated.

Speaking on the occasion, the NSUB leaders emphasised that this collaboration is more than a healthcare discount - it is a lifeline for many Nagas in Bengaluru who face challenges in accessing affordable, quality medical care.

The union encouraged all Nagas in the city to familiarise themselves with the services offered by BBH and to share the information within their respective communities so that maximum benefit may be derived from the agreement.

“With this MoU, NSUB reaffirms its mission to support the well-being of Nagas living outside their home state and to strengthen the spirit of unity and care among the Naga diaspora,” the update stated.
