Guwahati Rongmei community celebrates 8th cultural-cum-freshers’ meet on the theme ‘Roots to relevance’.

DIMAPUR — The Rongmei community in Guwahati celebrated its 8th cultural-cum-freshers’ meet (Charuangc akhatni Zawthanh Kariumei, 2026) at the Railway Community Hall in Goshala, Maligaon, Guwahati, on October 2, on the theme ‘Roots to relevance’.
The event was jointly organised by the Rongmei Phwam, Guwahati (RPG) and the Rongmei Chamnac Phwam Guwahati (RCPG), witnessing participation from Rongmei residents across Guwahati alongside newly arrived freshers.
Principal Chief Engineer of Northeast Frontier Railway Nilmani Brahma attended the programme as the chief guest, welcoming the freshers and encouraging the community members.
The celebration featured presentations including cultural songs, traditional dances, a display of traditional costumes, the Rongmei anthem, and indigenous cultural acts such as Huai kaucmei and Pazeicmei.

Performances were also presented by guest artists Pouh Mathiuhuam Kamei and TR Ganh & the band. The occasion also featured a talent hunt competition and the selection of Mr. and Ms. Freshers 2026.
