The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) reported that the continuous downpour has significantly increased the risk of flooding in rivers and streams.
As a precaution, the public has been advised to refrain from fishing, picnicking, swimming, or engaging in any form of recreational or occupational activity along riverbanks during the ongoing monsoon season.
The administration has directed all village councils located near rivers to strictly enforce the advisory until further notice.
In case of emergencies, residents have been urged to contact the State Emergency Operation Centre at 1070 (Toll-free) or 0370-2291120/22. Additionally, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) can be reached at 9366819486, 7005806182, or 8415085131.
With the monsoon expected to intensify in the coming days, district authorities have reiterated the need for strict vigilance and cooperation from the public to ensure timely response and reduced risk during potential flood situations.
