Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio highlights NSEDM achievements, youth success stories and employment gains on World Youth Skills Day in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, marking World Youth Skills Day on Wednesday, paid tribute to young people striving to build a better future and highlighted the state's efforts to strengthen skill development and entrepreneurship.
In a post on X, Rio said, "Nagaland, we are strengthening the skills ecosystem, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through the Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM)."
Highlighting the achievements of the flagship state government initiative, Rio said the NSEDM has expanded skill development programmes across all 17 districts since 2025, covering more than 30 trades. According to the chief minister, 5,779 training seats have been allocated, 3,867 candidates enrolled, 3,637 trained, and 1,328 employment opportunities facilitated.
He added that the mission aims to equip young people with industry-relevant skills, promote self-employment and entrepreneurship, build a sustainable employment ecosystem, reduce dependence on an external workforce, discourage excessive reliance on white-collar jobs, and design skill programmes based on research and evidence.

Rio also highlighted the success stories of four beneficiaries.
P Khuno from Noklak completed training in Electrification and Plumbing and secured employment as an Electrical Technician with A&D Solar Enterprise. Benjungnungsang Phom from Longleng, after completing training as a Backhoe Loader Operator, joined HARDAYAL Construction & Projects LLP as a Site Supervisor on Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects.
Neilhousalie Zumu from Kohima completed the Driving Training Programme, obtained a driving licence and is now self-employed as a taxi driver.
Sisan from Dimapur enrolled in the Banking PO coaching programme, received structured mentorship and cleared the IBPS Clerk examination on her first attempt.
