Nagaland's RAMP programme has empowered over 30,000 women-led MSMEs and benefited nearly 50,000 enterprises, says Chief Minister Rio
KOHIMA — More than 30,000 women-owned and women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nagaland have been empowered through training and outreach initiatives under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said on Saturday on the occasion of World MSME Day.
Sharing the progress of the World Bank-supported initiative on X, Rio said that RAMP Nagaland has trained 35,574 MSMEs, benefited 49,434 enterprises, conducted 882 workshops, and reached 55 subdivisions and 63 RD blocks across the state.
The programme has also trained 121 MSMEs owned and led by persons with disabilities (PwDs).
"On World MSME Day, we celebrate the spirit, resilience and contribution of MSMEs towards the growth and development of our state. Through initiatives like RAMP, Nagaland is strengthening the MSME ecosystem by enhancing support, capacity building and opportunities for local enterprises," Rio posted.
Implemented by the department of Industries and Commerce, RAMP is a World Bank-supported central initiative aimed at strengthening the MSME sector by addressing key challenges, accelerating growth and improving enterprise competitiveness.

Rio said that RAMP Nagaland focuses on competitiveness and green initiatives, capacity building and institutional strengthening, digital transformation, and improving access to finance and markets.
According to the chief minister, the programme includes capacity building for 18,000 MSMEs, skill development for educated unemployed youth, and the formalisation of existing unorganised enterprises.
The initiative further supports energy efficiency through audits, awareness programmes on the ZED and LEAN schemes, and measures to improve access to finance and markets, including interest subvention, vendor development programmes, buyer-seller meets, export summits, technology clinics, and workshops on packaging, branding and marketing.
Rio added that RAMP Nagaland has also introduced innovative interventions such as a banker facilitation cell to improve MSMEs' access to government schemes, finance and technical assistance.
