CM Rio inspects landslide-hit NH-29 near Kohima, directs urgent repair to restore traffic before Hornbill Festival.

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday inspected the landslide-affected stretch of National Highway-29 at Liezocha, near Old BRTF (Temple), and called for immediate repair measures.
An update from DIPR stated that he was accompanied by Kohima Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem, Senior Superintendent of Police Khodi Rhetso, Chief Engineer (PWD–NH) Akho Zutso, and other district and departmental officials.
During the inspection, the chief minister held discussions with officials on both short-term and long-term measures to restore the damaged portion of the highway.
Proposed interventions included widening the hillside, filling the affected stretch, and seeking expert technical assessment from the Ministry concerned.

Rio directed the department to take up urgent repairs without delay, stressing that the highway must be made motorable at the earliest.
He specifically instructed that at least metalling of the stretch should be completed before the Hornbill Festival, noting the crucial role of NH-29 in connectivity.
Officials assured the chief minister of all possible steps to restore traffic flow and ensure public safety.
