Deputy Commissioner orders closure of NH-29 near Old KMC dumping site; heavy vehicles diverted, LMVs use Jotsoma Bypass.

DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has ordered the closure of National Highway-29 below the Old KMC dumping site, near Shiva Mandir, due to worsening road conditions and ongoing restoration works.
According to the order issued on Thursday, the affected stretch will remain closed to all forms of traffic until further notice.
Heavy vehicles, including water tankers, military and paramilitary vehicles, and compact and mid-size pickup trucks, as well as mid-size and heavy commercial passenger vehicles, will be diverted to the Peducha Bridge–Tsiesema (10 Mile) road.

Only light motor vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to use the Jotsoma Bypass road, the order stated.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the measure has been taken to ensure public safety and to allow smooth execution of restoration work. He also cautioned that violation of the order will invite prosecution under relevant provisions of law.
