- DIMAPUR — The
Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University (NU), Prof. JK Patnaik, inaugurated the
newly renovated gymnasium at Lumami campus on June 3 in the presence of heads
of departments, faculty, officers, staff, research scholars and students.
- Additionally, the sports section led by Dr. Harish Tiwari,
DDS, also organised the yoga and fitness competition under the Yoga Sangam
countdown programme of the common yoga protocol, which is part of a series of
activities for the upcoming International Day of Yoga on June 21.

- An update from NU stated that Prof. Patnaik has expressed
happiness with the renovated gymnasium and urged the students, faculty and
staff to make full use of the facilities.
- It stated that prizes were given to the winners for the various
yoga poses under the category of employees, research scholars and PG students.
- In the fitness competition, the first position for bench
press in the male category was won by Prof. Ambrish Singh, department of
Chemistry, and the first position in the female category was won by Dr. Manasi
Debnath, department of Geography.
- Among research scholars, Raplang, department of Chemistry,
and T Ngipwen, department of Chemistry, won first position in the male and
female categories, respectively. For the PG students, Nosavi, department of
Sociology, and Wewu-U Kapya, department of Geography, won first position in the
male and female categories, respectively.

- In squat competition, Prof. Ambrish Singh, department of
Chemistry, and Dr. Manasi Debnath, department of Geography, were declared
winners in male and female categories among employees, while Raplang,
department of Chemistry, and Manthai were declared winners in male and female
categories among research scholars and Nosavi, department of Sociology, and
Wewu-U Kapya, department of Geography, were declared winners in male and female
categories among PG students.
