Nagaland Economic Survey 2025–26 reports a sharp rise in registered factories to 12,844, with major growth in employment and worker registrations across districts.

KOHIMA — The number of registered factories in Nagaland increased to 12,844 in 2025–26 from 1,110 in 2024–25, while employment rose from 1,295 to 12,844 during the same period, according to the Nagaland Economic Survey 2025–26.
The survey, issued by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and presented during the recent Nagaland Legislative Assembly session, did not specify the type or category of factories covered under the data.
District-wise, Dimapur recorded the highest number of registered factories at 510, employing 2,856 persons, while Zunheboto recorded the least with one factory employing 40 persons.

In terms of employment, Chümoukedima recorded the highest number of workers at 4,221 across 179 factories, while Kiphire had the lowest with 26 workers in two factories.
The report also stated that 2,42,314 unorganised workers were registered on the e-Shram portal in 2025.

Under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) scheme, 710 beneficiaries in Nagaland availed medical benefits between April and November 2025, while the total number of insured persons stood at 9,372 as of November 2025.
The survey’s district-wise data indicates a total of 35,576 construction workers registered under the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
