of students from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (RIMS),
called on Manipur Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on

faced by the students.
- “Governor gave the delegation a patient hearing and

- The governor has appealed to the students to remain focused
on their studies and maintain peace in the campus. He also assured to take up
appropriate steps to address the issue.
- It may be mentioned that students of the RIMS have been
staging a protest demanding the removal of their director, alleging that the latter
had used deeply offensive and threatening language during an interaction with
students.
- Amid the ongoing students' protest, the dean and sub-dean of
the RIMS have tendered their resignation, according to reports available from
media advisor of the institute.
- It is worth noting that MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing students
of RIMS have launched the protest on May 7 accusing the RIMS director of using
abusive language on the students. The students have also accused the dean and
sub-dean of harassing them with excessive punishment.
