Certain areas of Dimapur are facing waterlogging due to the dumping of garbage in the drainage system, blocking the flow of water when it rains.
(Letter to Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to draw your attention to the recurring problem of waterlogging. Certain areas of Dimapur are facing waterlogging due to the dumping of garbage in the drainage system, blocking the flow of water when it rains.
The blocked drainages cause the water level to rise rapidly after heavy rainfall, leading to major disruption in the lives of people across several parts of Dimapur. Due to a lack of proper urban planning, combined with a lack of civic responsibility among some residents, the situation is made worse. People recklessly throw their waste into the drainage channels when there is already an existing pile of garbage, adding to the menace of waterlogging.
I would like to suggest a few measures for tackling this problem:
- Construct new drainage systems with proper planning.
- Set up cleanliness drives throughout the areas of Dimapur.
- Launch public awareness campaigns through posters and community programmes.
- Impose strict penalty fines on defaulters.
These measures would go a long way towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment. I would greatly appreciate if you could look into this matter and consider the suggestions provided. Your prompt action would greatly contribute to the betterment and progress of our society.
Yours faithfully,
