A reception programme in honour of Naga National Council Vice President Elect Zapu-o Zhasa was held in Kigwema.
DIMAPUR — A reception programme in honour of Zapu-o Zhasa, the newly elected Vice President (HQ) of the Naga National Council (NNC), was held at the Kigwema Village Council Hall on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Zhasa expressed gratitude to the members of the organisation for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as the vice president (HQ), a press release stated.
Thanking the NNC leadership and national workers for their confidence, Zhasa pledged to serve with dedication and said he looked forward to their continued support in advancing the organisation's objectives.
Reflecting on his early years in the Naga national movement, he recalled the influence of Neilhounyü Yhokha of Kigwema village, who was educated and closely associated with AZ Phizo. Zhasa said Phizo's stay in Kigwema had inspired him to join the Naga national movement as a young boy.
He attributed his appointment to the values of truthfulness, honesty, and courage upheld by his village and its people, saying these principles had shaped his journey in public service. Describing himself as a servant of the people, Zhasa said he would be guided by the aspirations, shared dreams, and collective vision of the Naga people. He also called for steadfastness in truth and perseverance in honouring the sacrifices of past generations.

While opinions may differ on many matters, Lhousa called for the commitment to preserving history and identity to remain steadfast.
KVC Chairman Khomeze Jacob Mera delivered the introductory note, while gaon bura and former VCC of Kigwema Vikhwe Kiso spoke on the theme "Nationalism in my perspective".
Kiso expressed that despite divisions, greed, and elements diluting the essence of the Naga nation, there is a need to stand for the truth that the pioneers left behind. Kiso called on the attendees to remain steadfast in their identity, wise in decisions, and united in purpose.
Short speeches were delivered by Angami Region Council NNC President Zhale Nakhro and Tatar NNC Sato Gwirie.
