The NNC Central Executive Council held an emergency meeting in Kohima, electing Zapu-o Zhasa as Vice President.
DIMAPUR — An emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council of the Naga National Council (NNC) was held on June 25 at its Kohima headquarters to discuss urgent issues and adopt key organisational resolutions.
The NNC noted in a press statement that many members from Manipur could not attend due to the unfavourable travel situation in the state.
The house resolved to express its deep appreciation for the release of 14 Kuki hostages by the Nagas of Manipur without harm, noting that this reflected the true spirit of the policy of non-violence of the NNC, even though the organisation was not directly involved. They also strongly condemned the killing of six Naga hostages by the Kukis.

The house also resolved to elect a vice president of headquarters, who will be stationed at the Kohima headquarters to assist the president, to cope with increased activities and fast-moving political developments in the Naga homeland.
Since the body cannot meet frequently, the house unanimously elected Zapu-o Zhasa as the Vice President of Headquarters. He will assume this responsibility with immediate effect after the oath of office is administered to him by the competent authority.
Additionally, the meeting cautioned its members to remain alert to the situation in the event of increased hostile activities by adversaries.
