RBI Kohima, CFL Bhandari, and SBI conducted a financial literacy camp in Yanmhon village, Wokha, to raise awareness on digital banking and cyber hygiene.

DIMAPUR — The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Kohima, in collaboration with the Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL), Bhandari block, and the State Bank of India (SBI), Bhandari Branch, conducted a financial literacy camp at the community hall in Yanmhon village under Wokha district on August 3.
Chairing the programme, Zathungo Yanthan, Centre Manager of the CFL Bhandari block, spoke on the importance of financial literacy. He stated that while Nagaland boasts a high overall literacy rate of above 90%, practical skills regarding formal banking, budgeting, digital finance, and investment remain very low, with the financial literacy rate of the state standing at a mere 8%.
According to an update, cautioning the participants, he advised them to maintain digital hygiene while using mobile phones and internet banking.
"Never trust calls from unknown numbers claiming to be from a courier company or law enforcement agency asking you to provide personal information, OTP, PIN, etc.," Yanthan said, warning that no genuine authority or company would request such details. He also advised phone users to always enable two-factor authentication for sensitive digital information.
"Don’t answer any unknown calls on video mode. Don’t press on any link written in blue," he stated.

T Zou, Manager of RBI Kohima, speaking as a resource person, stated that with the development of the internet and online banking solutions, cybercriminals' schemes have been evolving. He noted that they use identity theft, phishing, digital arrest, and other types of social engineering attacks to defraud innocent citizens, causing significant financial losses amounting to hundreds of crores in India.
He cautioned the attendees to be vigilant and not to fall victim. He clarified that there is no such thing as a "digital arrest" and advised them not to panic but instead report the matter to the cybercrime helpline number 1930 or report the incident on .
Aman, Service Manager of the SBI Bhandari Branch, advised customers to keep their bank accounts active and updated so that they do not become inoperative.
