DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has informed that weather conditions across the state during the period March 25 to the 29th are expected to remain generally stable during the initial days, with increasing chances of rainfall and thunderstorms towards the latter part of the forecast period.
According to the latest weather bulletin, most districts are likely to experience stable weather conditions from March 25 to the 27th, with no major warnings issued.
However, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may occur at a few places during this period, particularly during the afternoon or evening hours, the NSDMA stated.
Weather activity is expected to increase from March 28 onwards, with light rain likely at a few places in districts such as Longleng, Mokokchung, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu and Zunheboto.

On March 29, light to moderate rainfall is expected in several districts including Kohima, Chümoukedima, Mokokchung and Mon, while Longleng district may experience moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall.
In addition, localised thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of around 30–40 kmph may occur at various locations, particularly in districts such as Peren, Kohima and Phek during the forecast period.
In view of the above weather conditions, the NSDMA advised the public to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning events.
People have been advised to avoid open fields, hilltops and sheltering under large trees during thunderstorms, and to secure loose outdoor objects due to the possibility of gusty winds.
“The NSDMA further urges all residents to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety,” it stated.
