Punjab, Nagaland register wins in Dr. T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship

Punjab beat Uttarakhand 2-1 and Nagaland thrashed Andaman and Nicobar 7-0 in the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ Championship.

DIMAPUR — Punjab defeated Uttarakhand 2-1 in the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier-II) at Chümoukedima Football Stadium, Police Complex, on Monday.


Punjab dominated possession and maintained attacking pressure throughout the match.


Uttarakhand took the lead in the 25th minute when Khushi Pal (jersey 10) scored. Punjab responded in the second half, with captain Harmeen Kaur (jersey 7) converting a penalty in the 69th minute to equalise.

Punjab held 67 % possession and continued pressing forward. Kaur scored again in the 90+1 minute to secure the win. Uttarakhand, with 33 % possession, managed only one shot on target—their lone goal—while Punjab registered 16 shots on target and nine corners.


Disciplinary action remained minimal, with Uttarakhand receiving the only yellow card of the match.

Nagaland thrash Andaman and Nicobar 7-0


Nagaland defeated the Andaman and Nicobar Islands 7-0 in the sixth Group B match.


Nagaland defender 14-year-old Catherine Mozhui (jersey 19) opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Midfielder Sentinaro Changkija (jersey 7) added the second goal in the 19th minute, followed by another from Mozhui in the 25th minute.


Captain Zenloi Konyak converted a penalty in the 29th minute to make it 4-0. Despite several missed opportunities in the first half, Nagaland maintained control.


In the second half, the team slowed down but regained momentum when 15-year-old midfielder Sentinaro scored the fifth goal in the 76th minute, completed her hat-trick in the 77th minute, and converted a penalty to bring the tally to six.


Fourteen-year-old striker Charakungliu Thiumai (jersey 8) scored the seventh goal in the 85th minute.


The Islands had 24 % possession, three shots on target, and received two yellow cards. Nagaland had 76 % possession and one yellow card.
