NPF’s 60 Pungro-Kiphire unit clarifies ongoing developmental works, road repairs, and infrastructure initiatives.
DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF), 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency, has clarified that developmental activities in the constituency are being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and through the efforts of Advisor S Kiusumew Yimkhiung.
In a press statement issued in response to recent public discussions regarding the pace of development in the constituency, the NPF stated that the people of Pungro are aware of the various developmental works undertaken by the state government, particularly in improving infrastructure and promoting public welfare.
The statement came following the circulation of a video on social media platforms in which Amongla Sangtam raised concerns over the condition of roads in Pungro and commented on the efforts of the government and the elected representative.
While acknowledging the right of citizens to express their views, the NPF urged that public comments should be based on proper understanding of ground realities and ongoing processes.

The party stated that complete reconstruction of roads within Pungro town has not been undertaken at present due to the ongoing Land Acquisition Survey and Assessment Exercise being carried out by the district administration.
It further informed that minor road repairs and maintenance works within Pungro town have been undertaken through the initiative of the Yimkhiung Youth Organisation (YYO) in collaboration with Likimro Enterprise and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), wherever required.
The NPF appealed to individuals, particularly social media users, to verify facts and understand the practical challenges involved in development projects before making public statements.
“Constructive criticism is always welcome, as it strengthens accountability and good governance. However, public discourse should remain responsible, factual, and focused on the collective progress of society,” the statement said.
The party expressed confidence that under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and the representation of Kiusumew Yimkhiung, the 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency would continue to witness meaningful and sustainable development for the benefit of the people.
