DIMAPUR — The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division (PFPSD) has given a seven-day ultimatum to the State Bank of India (SBI) over the transfer of a field officer from SBI Pungro Branch without posting a reliever.
In a press release on Thursday, the forum stated that despite its earlier representation dated 15/12/2025 to the General Manager (Network-II) SBI, Dispur, requesting a reliever, it went unheeded, disrupting essential banking services in Pungro.
“It is deeply regretted that no response, communication or intimation has been received from your office even after submitting our earlier representation. The continued absence of a field officer has caused extreme hardship to the general public, particularly senior citizens, daily wage earners, government scheme beneficiaries and other account holders who are entirely dependent on the Pungro Branch for their basic banking needs,” it stated.

The forum clarified that they are not demanding the posting of any specific officer, and their sole and genuine demand is either the immediate retention of the field officer or urgent posting of a suitable reliever at SBI Pungro Branch for uninterrupted public service.
“We hereby grant a final period of seven (7) days reckoning from the date of this ultimatum to resolve the matter and immediate posting of field officer at SBI Pungro Branch,” the PFPSD stated.
The forum warned that failing compliance, they would resort to democratic and peaceful measures, including closing SBI Pungro Branch after the ultimatum, until a field officer is posted, and hold the authorities responsible for any inconvenience or disruption.
