KOHIMA — A newly constructed public washroom along National Highway-702A at Khüsuntüka (Brotherhood Road) near Chetheba town was officially inaugurated on Friday during a brief programme organised by the Altruist Society, Chetheba.


Medothi Rhakho, chairman of Thenyizu village council, inaugurated the washroom, as the special invitee. He lauded the Altruist Society for their proactive and thoughtful contribution to the community.


“This facility will serve countless travelers and improve sanitation along the highway. I appreciate all the donors and congratulate the Society for bringing this much-needed washroom for travelers. I thank the Society and hope to see more such impactful initiatives in the future,” Rhakho said.

An update from the Society stated that the inauguration began with an invocation and blessing said by the landowner, Maha Nakro, who commended the initiative for addressing a long-standing and practical public need.


The vote of thanks was delivered by Zavekho Resu on behalf of the Altruist Society, who expressed gratitude to individuals and well-wishers for their contributions towards the project.


It mentioned that Altruist Society, Chetheba, comprised of 21 young professionals including engineers, entrepreneurs, students and civil servants, united by a shared vision of community uplift. Their recent project was aimed at addressing a critical gap in public infrastructure- the lack of sanitation facilities for commuters traveling between Phek, Zunheboto, Tuensang and others via NH-702A.


It added that a total of 40 donors from various districts of Nagaland, who travel along the highway, contributed towards the cause, while the Altruist Society took the initiative to plan and execute the construction process.


It further stated that contributions poured in not only from Chetheba residents but also from Kohima, Tseminyu, Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Phek and Dimapur.
