DIMAPUR — The first Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) two-day sports meet commenced at 365 Arena, Dimapur, on Thursday, themed “Unity, equality and health for all”.
The event was organised by the Association of Public Health Engineering Nagaland.
Speaking at the inaugural programme as the special guest, Jacob Zhimomi, minister of PHED and cooperation, acknowledged the department’s initiative, noting that the event serves as a platform to foster unity and camaraderie among staff while promoting the spirit of sportsmanship.

Zhimomi encouraged participants to give their best, highlighting that sports can open promising professional avenues, recognition, career stability, and economic opportunities for talented individuals. He expressed hope that other departments in the state would emulate such initiatives to encourage sporting culture across Nagaland.
A total of 17 teams from districts across Nagaland are participating in the meet, competing in a variety of sporting disciplines.
The formal programme also featured the culmination of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, officiated by the special guest.
