Phek Police, in collaboration with ICAR-KVK and DLSA, launched Project REVIVE to provide livelihood training to jail inmates.
DIMAPUR — Project REVIVE, an initiative of SP Phek Dr. Pritpal Kaur aimed at providing livelihood training to district jail inmates, was launched at the District Jail, Phek, on July 25.
Phek Police collaborated with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra – Indian Council of Agricultural Research (KVK-ICAR), Phek, and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Phek, for this project, according to an update.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Kaur highlighted that the training programme would aid in the rehabilitation of inmates, enabling them to earn an honest living after overcoming past mistakes and temptations. She encouraged them to transform their lives with revived hearts and contribute to a peaceful and progressive society.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK, Phek (Porba), highlighted the significance of the project and outlined upcoming agricultural initiatives. Technical training on vermicomposting and other sustainable livelihood skills, along with necessary supplies, was conducted by Dr. T Esther Longkumer, Chief Technical Officer (Soil Science) at ICAR-KVK, Phek.
The event concluded with practical hands-on training and a motivational address encouraging inmates to pursue hard work and a purposeful life, marking a significant step toward positive prisoner rehabilitation.
