  • DIMAPUR — In response to rumours and public anxiety fuelled by tensions between India and Pakistan, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang has announced that market price escalation will be closely monitored.

  • The DC said that discussions with the East Dimapur Town Council and the Dimapur Municipal Council will be held to ensure effective monitoring and prevent unwarranted price hikes.

  • Dimapur also participation in the nationwide ‘Operation Abhyaas,’ a civil defence exercise designed to enhance emergency preparedness. A mock drill was conducted at the DC’s office, commencing at 4:01 pm with the sounding of an emergency siren.

  • The exercise, which lasted approximately one hour, was described a success by the DC, despite the sudden and emergency nature of the MHA directive on Tuesday to conduct it.

  • On the absence of 32 Assam Rifles 6th Sector from the exercise, Chang explained that their participation may have been hindered by ongoing operational duties.

  • During the drill, the DC’s office served as a staging area, while the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Office of the Project Director Dimapur was designated as an air raid affected area. The Urban Primary Health Centre at Duncan Bosti was identified as a temporary hospital, with 27 personnel actively participating in the exercise.

  • Despite a scheduled notification for an air raid siren at 6.30 pm, followed by a two-minute blackout exercise, no siren or power shutdown had occurred as of 7 pm, at the time of this report.
