
Members of the construction committee along with
representatives from other organisations during the dedicatory prayer service
in Sanphure village on May 10.
- DIMAPUR — To
begin the construction of Sangtam Heritage Village Gate, the construction
committee held a dedicatory prayer service in Sanphure village on May 10.
- The solemn prayer service was led by Thsarise, pastor of
Longmatra Town Baptist Lithro, who sought God’s blessings for the successful
completion of the project.
- Following the prayer, the vice president of United Sangtam
Likhum Pümji (USLP) delivered words of encouragement and expressed hope that
the gate would become a symbol of unity and cultural pride for the Sangtam
community.

- Later, a consultative meeting was held with various
organisations and village elders. The meeting was attended by representatives
from the United Sangtam Likhum Pümji (USLP), Akedha Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang
(AST), United Sangtam Students' Conference (USSC), Longmatra Area Students'
Union (LASU), and elders of Sanphure village.
- During the discussion, the construction committee
highlighted that the entire project is being carried out purely through crowd
funding with contributions from the well-wishers. They expressed gratitude for
the support received so far and further sought assistance from individuals and
organisations towards the project.
- In a significant gesture, the United Sangtam Students'
Conference (USSC), in collaboration with the Department of Power, handed over
more than 15 electric poles. Those electric poles would be used for installing
street lights in the area surrounding the heritage gate.
- The construction of the Sangtam heritage village gate is
seen as a meaningful step towards preserving and promoting the cultural
identity of the Sangtam people while also serving as a landmark for future
generations.
