Patkai Premier Cricket League 2026 began at Patkai Christian College with Defaulters XI defeating Eagle Strikers by 67 runs in the opening match.

DIMAPUR — The inaugural Patkai Premier Cricket League (PPCL) 2026 got underway at Patkai Christian College on Wednesday, with Defaulters XI registering a 67-run win over Eagle Strikers in the opening match.
Organised by the Patkai Christian College Cricket Club, the tournament was launched at the college ground in the presence of special guest Joshua Ben.
In the opening fixture, Defaulters XI put up 162 all out in 16.3 overs after opting to bat, with Salchu Namkam M Sangma remaining unbeaten on 34 off 17 balls. Zozo L Muri scored 24, while Lunhokhiung T added 21. Eagle Strikers conceded 49 runs in extras.
Himanshu Kumar Gupta was the pick of the bowlers for Eagle Strikers, taking four wickets for 18 runs in three overs.
In reply, Eagle Strikers were bowled out for 95 in 16.4 overs. Milli Nigom top-scored with 23, while Vishal Vieria made 11.
Bendangsunep Sor led the bowling attack for Defaulters XI with figures of three for 12 in 3.4 overs, while Kipito K Yeptho took two wickets. Chewen N, Aipong Phom, Sutei Lam and Vunthungo Kikon picked up one wicket each.
Sor was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Earlier, speakers at the inaugural programme highlighted the importance of promoting cricket within the institution and encouraged students to uphold sportsmanship and contribute to the growth of the sport.
