  • DIMAPUR — The Pochury Students' Union (PSU) extended its "unequivocal and unwavering support" to the Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) in the seven-day ultimatum issued to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, M/S Ratna Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., regarding the deteriorating condition of National Highway (NH) 29 (Kohima–Jesami Road), particularly the stretch under Package II.

  • The PSU, in a press statement, stated that it must be emphasised that NH-29 is not merely a road—it is a lifeline. It serves not only the Chakhesang and Pochury communities but also connects numerous other Naga tribes and regions.

  • “Thousands of commuters rely on this vital route daily for transportation, commerce, healthcare, education, and access to essential services. Its current deplorable state, marked by negligence and substandard execution, has resulted in frequent accidents, loss of time and resources, and widespread public distress.

  • “The Pochury Students' Union condemns in the strongest terms the blatant disregard shown by both NHIDCL and the contractor towards the safety, mobility, and dignity of the people. This is not just administrative failure—it is a gross betrayal of public trust. Despite repeated appeals and assurances, the lack of tangible progress on the ground exposes a systemic lapse in accountability and urgency,” the statement read.

  • The union demanded immediate, visible, and irreversible corrective measures without further excuse or delay, stating that this is a collective call for justice—not just from the CSU or PSU—but from the people of Eastern Nagaland and beyond.

  • “Let it be known that if the concerned authorities fail to act within the stipulated timeline, the PSU will not hesitate to join forces with the Chakhesang Students' Union and other concerned bodies to initiate intensified democratic actions. We are ready to escalate this issue through all possible platforms until justice is served,” it added.

  • The PSU reaffirmed its commitment to standing shoulder to shoulder with all people's movements that champion public welfare, transparency, and accountability, stating, "The road must be fixed—no compromise, no delay”.
