Tuesday.
- KOHIMA — As part of the ongoing second-phase
agitation against the prolonged delay in the construction of the NH-29
Kohima-Jessami Road (Package-2), the Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) on
Tuesday seized 12 vehicles.
- In an update, the CSU stated that 11 of the seized vehicles
belong to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation
Limited (NHIDCL), while one is a government-registered vehicle.

Some of the vehicles seized by the CSU.
- The seizure comes in the wake of the union’s ban on the
movement of vehicles linked to the NHIDCL, EPC contractor M/s Ratna Infra
Projects Pvt. Ltd., and government-registered vehicles plying on the 21.9 km
stretch of NH-29 between Chakhabama and Kikrüma, effective from May 12.
The CSU expressed dissatisfaction over the NHIDCL and
contractor's continued silence and inaction, with the issue remaining
unresolved for over six months.

- The union also stated that despite its directives, several
vehicles under the banned category violated the restriction, showing “blatant
disregard” for the directive.
- The union warned that further violations would lead to
intensified action and vowed to continue the agitation with full force until
its concerns are addressed.
- Further, the CSU maintained that the implementing agency
will be held accountable for any untoward incidents that may arise along the
NH-29 stretch from Chakhabama to Kikrüma during the course of the agitation.
- As per a report dated April 30, M/s Ratna Infrastructure
Projects Pvt. Ltd. recorded a mere 10.69% in physical progress and 7.4%
financial progress. These figures are alarmingly low, given the January 2026
deadline for completion.
