DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav, on Monday interacted with beneficiaries of the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for Scheduled Tribe students during a special session organised as part of the “Janjatiya Garima Utsav” celebration at Dr. Imkongliba Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima.
The governor expressed happiness at meeting students benefiting from the scholarship scheme and highlighted the significance of the occasion commemorating the legacy of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, who symbolised courage, dignity and justice for tribal communities, an update from Lok Bhavan, Kohima, stated.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav said education is the key to empowerment and progress, and described the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme as an important initiative that supports deserving students in pursuing higher education and fulfilling their aspirations.
He expressed satisfaction that many students from Nagaland are benefiting from the scheme.
Encouraging the students, the governor urged them to work hard, remain disciplined and make full use of available opportunities while staying connected to the values and traditions of their tribal heritage.
He said that for the vision of a developed India to become a reality, every citizen — including youngsters, doctors, engineers, technocrats, students and people from all walks of life — must demonstrate excellence and dedication in their respective duties.

Yadav expressed confidence that the youth of Nagaland would continue to excel and contribute towards building a developed India, “Viksit Bharat,” by 2047.
During the interaction, the governor encouraged students to pursue academic excellence with discipline, character and social responsibility.
He emphasised honesty, humility, compassion and dedication to public welfare as essential values for success in life.
Highlighting the importance of youth empowerment, Yadav stressed the need for skill development, entrepreneurship, vocational training, tourism and agriculture-based industries to address unemployment in the state.
He also underscored the importance of quality education, infrastructure development, unity and lasting peace for the progress of Nagaland.
Motivating the students, the governor urged them to dream big, remain disciplined, work hard and contribute positively towards society and nation-building.
The programme was chaired by Sarita Yadav, while the keynote address was delivered by V Lovitoly Sema. The vote of thanks was proposed by I Sino Phom.
Officials from the Higher & Technical Education Department, Tribal Affairs Department and students from various colleges attended the programme.
