DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing capacity-building and orientation programme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, a team of three experts from the State Level Technical Cell (SLTC), Nagaland, conducted a week-long outreach initiative across seven towns.

The mission team visited Medziphema, Bhandari, Dimapur, East Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Peren, and Tening, engaging with elected councillors, government nominees and other stakeholders, the State Level Nodal Agency, Municipal Affairs department, stated in a press release.

The expert team comprised Nchumthung Ovung (IEC expert), Neitho Usou (data management expert), and Arika Achumi (engineering expert).

The orientation sessions aimed to sensitise urban local body (ULB) officials, councillors and stakeholders on the mission’s objectives, components, and implementation strategies.

Each session featured detailed presentations and interactive discussions, with a focus on effective project execution, beneficiary outreach, and inter-departmental coordination.

During the joint session held for Dimapur, East Dimapur, and Chümoukedima on July 23, Temjenrenla Kechu, State Mission Director, PMAY-U and Joint Director & HoD, Municipal Affairs department, also participated in the programme.

In her address, Kechu provided an insightful overview of the PMAY-U 2.0 Mission, highlighting its core objectives, the importance of urban housing for all, and the need for collaborative efforts at all levels of governance.

The schedule of the visits was as follows: Medziphema (July 21); Bhandari (July 22); Dimapur, East Dimapur and Chümoukedima (July 23): Peren (July 24); and Tening (July 25).

“The participation and engagement from all the ULBs were encouraging, reflecting a strong commitment to the successful implementation of PMAY-U 2.0 across the state,” the release stated.

The team will also be covering the remaining ULBs in the coming days as part of its continued efforts to strengthen the mission’s outreach and ensure consistent understanding and implementation at the local level.
