PLVP’s 40th conference focused on theology, digital challenges and environmental stewardship.

DIMAPUR — The Phom Laaihing Vangsha Pangthai (PLVP) held its 40th conference from May 22 to the 24th, hosted by Bura Namsang Baptist Attoi in collaboration with Bura Namsang Village Council, Longleng district.
According to an update, the conference was held on the theme “Theology in a digital age” and drew more than 400 PLVP members and community members from across the region.
The conference addressed how theology can be practised in a digital era and how believers can engage with technology while staying rooted in identity and faith. The theme was stated to be relevant in the present global context where artificial intelligence and digital domination have become strong.

The conference also discussed the safe and beneficial use of digital platforms and how theology continues to persist and remain relevant in a digitally infused world.
Key sessions included “Who are we without land?” by Bachem Phom, president, PLVP; “The joy of serving: A reflection” by Chingnyi, missionary; “Theology in a digital age” by Rev. Beaü, pastor, LTBC; and “Theology in a violent world” by Moishen M Phom, literature secretary, Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA).
In a push for environmental stewardship, delegates along with villagers participated in a sapling plantation drive and attended a talk on “theological students being an environmental praxis” by Chulei, Christian education secretary, PBCA.
P Angbhenla Phom, advisor, PLVP, conducted a special session for in-campus students and fresh graduates with focus on campus life management, academic focus, moral discipline, and relationship with local churches.
The PLVP is a Phom theological conference established in 1985 under the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA), the apex Christian association in the Phom area.
The PLVP members comprise theological students from 55 churches under PBCA and focus on theological reflection, inviting scholars and intellectuals from different social callings and theological studies for theological debate, community service, environmental care initiatives, and preserving biblical truth.
Volume 6 of the PLVP Journal was released by N Tialemba Phom, executive secretary, PBCA, with articles from ten contributors.
During the conference, the PLVP also elected a new team led by Moishen M Phom as president along with nine team members.
