DIMAPUR — Pinnacle Skills organised a project culmination-cum- certification and kit distribution programme for the fifth batch of self-employed barber project, at Sematila Training Centre, Dimapur, on July 25.
The training institute successfully completed the project by training 100 candidates from all the districts of Nagaland, an update stated.
Director of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Savio Visa, the special guest for the event, in his address, congratulated the candidates and urged them to embark on their new journey with a fresh attitude, skills, and discipline, serving the community and society.
The director emphasised the importance of a humble attitude and customer respect in uplifting the business and motivating others. He noted that hairdressing, despite being a humble profession, offers a sustainable livelihood with minimal investment and vast scope.
He also advised the trainees to acquire basic business management skills and upgrade their entrepreneurial abilities to become successful entrepreneurs and grow their businesses.

Visa lauded the trainers for their dedication and thanked the Department of Planning and Transformation for funding the programme. He also commended Pinnacle Skills for successfully implementing the project.
Gideon Sumi, District Employment Officer, Dimapur, emphasised that skill training is invaluable as it can't be taken away. He urged the candidates to work diligently, build strong client relationships, and ensure sustainable business growth, highlighting that employment boosts self-esteem and financial stability.
Netenba Ajem, Principal of Govt. Women ITI, Chümoukedima, encouraged the candidates to upskill themselves through the National Skills Qualification Framework, enhancing their skills and business growth.
Earlier, Dr. Yan Murry, Chief Executive of Pinnacle skills, in his keynote address, shared the origins and journey of the self-employed barber project.
H Alongse, Joint Director of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, was also present on the occasion.
The programme ended with closing remarks from Jenny Haining Murry, Executive Director (Training and HR), Pinnacle Skills.
A total of 28 candidates received completion certificates, tools, and equipment to start their own barber shops in their villages and sub-divisions.
