DIMAPUR — After nearly two months, a
significant breakthrough has been made in the Pimla murder case, with Dimapur
Police identifying the victim’s husband as the prime suspect.
This was confirmed by Zeliangrong Youth Organisation
Nagaland (ZYON) president R John Zeliang following a meeting with Dimapur
Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie on Monday.
Zeliang informed that the police are ready with the
chargesheet against the accused and are prepared to submit it “even by tomorrow.”
In light of this development, the proposed second phase of agitation—an
indefinite district-wide shutdown in Peren scheduled to begin on June 10—has
been called off and placed on hold.
The murder case dates back to April 7, when a woman was
found dead between Mhaikam and Pimla villages in Peren district. Five
individuals, including the husband, are currently in police custody in
connection with the case.

“Our demand was to
reveal the identity of the culprits in the public domain, and this demand was fulfilled
today,” Zeliang said.
He added that the organisation’s pursuit of justice was not
limited to the Zeliangrong community but aimed at ensuring the safety and
dignity of women across Nagaland.
