DIMAPUR — A piggery farmers' meet on the theme "Strengthening Tseminyu as a model piggery district" was held at Town Hall, Tseminyu, on March 18.
The event brought together farmers, government officials, allied departments, and financial institutions to promote sustainable piggery development in the district. The programme was chaired by Dr. Gwathonlo Tsela, VAS, stated a DIPR report.
Delivering the keynote address, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Chairman of the District Level Management Committee (DLMC) Japheth Woch stressed the importance of piggery as a key livelihood activity in the district. He highlighted the need for convergence among departments, financial institutions, and farmers to strengthen the piggery sector.

Dr. Kenalo Kath, Chief Veterinary Officer, Tseminyu, spoke on the importance of scientific piggery practices, disease control, improving productivity, and ensuring the health of livestock.
Officers from allied departments, including Agriculture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Land Resources, Industry, and Fishery, shared their insights on integrated farming approaches, resources management, and technical support available to farmers.
Officials from financial institutions such as SBI and Bank of Baroda highlighted financial assistance available for piggery and allied activities, assuring farmers to avail themselves of institutional support for expanding their enterprises.
