DIMAPUR — The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has released its second-phase inspection, highlighting government offices' performance in Longleng district, as part of the student body’s ongoing initiative to promote transparency, accountability, and effective public service delivery.

The inspection committee visited multiple offices and engaged with department personnel to assess infrastructure, staff discipline, and service effectiveness.

According to the PSC, the inspection revealed key observations and findings across various departments.


District Horticulture Office: The department was found to be functioning effectively. However, the urgent need for a sub-divisional horticulture office in Tamlu area was highlighted to enhance service coverage and accessibility.


District Sports Office: “The department is actively promoting youth and sports activities but faces critical staff shortages and continues to operate from a rented building. Although land has been allotted for a permanent office, construction has yet to begin.” The PSC urged higher authorities to expedite staff recruitment and infrastructure development.

District Rural Development Agency:  The DRDA was observed to be operating smoothly and efficiently, despite recent officer reshuffling—reflecting strong internal coordination and management.


Child Helpline 1098 (Social Welfare department): The office was noted for its strong work ethic and consistent staff attendance, setting an example in terms of operational discipline and commitment.


District Jail: “The jail maintains a generally good working environment. “However, lack of adequate toilet facilities for both staff and inmates remains a matter of concern that calls for immediate rectification.”


DEO & Sr. SDEO: The PSC commended the department’s progress in infrastructure and administration. However, it raised serious concern over an LDA reportedly working from home without regular office attendance which, the union, stated, is unacceptable in a department of such responsibility.


Mid-Day Meal Scheme: The scheme is hindered by logistical challenges, including the lack of a vehicle and absence of a designated store in the Tamlu area. These issues continue to impact program delivery and require urgent departmental intervention.


The PSC expressed appreciation for departments showing dedication and efficient service, while advising all departments to maintain attendance registers, report staff postings properly, and adhere to official working hours.


The student body stated that it remained committed to collaborating with the government and its agencies to promote transparent and citizen-focused governance in Longleng district.
