DIMAPUR — The Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) and the Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) have flagged the slow progress and insufficient manpower at the construction site of the District Hospital Longleng.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, following a recent inspection, the two organisations highlighted that construction works are “significantly behind” schedule, jeopardising its planned completion date of March 2026.
The inspection revealed a low number of workers deployed at the site, prompting the two organisations to demand immediate action from the contractor and implementing agencies.
They termed the ongoing delays as unacceptable, citing significant shortcomings in planning and execution.
Accordingly, the two bodies demanded immediate deployment of sufficient manpower and technical expertise; accelerate construction work without compromising quality; ensure strict accountability and transparency in execution; and provide regular public updates on project progress.
“The PPC and PSC further cautioned that failure to show visible improvements in the coming weeks will lead to an escalation of the matter to higher authorities, along with intensified public monitoring and accountability mechanisms,” they warned.
