Phek Police arrest man in alleged sexual assault of minor; accused held in Dimapur, investigation underway under POCSO provisions.

KOHIMA — Phek Police have arrested a person in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a minor.
According to police, the arrest was made on March 18 after an FIR was lodged by the victim’s father.
Acting on the complaint, Phek Police, in coordination with Dimapur Police, apprehended the accused in Dimapur on the same day.
Police said that the accused allegedly assaulted the complainant’s minor daughter during his absence while he was away for work.
The accused has been forwarded to judicial custody, Phek Police added.

A case has been registered at Women Police Station, Phek, under Case No. 0003/2026, invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Investigation is ongoing, and police have assured that the case will be pursued to its logical conclusion.
Police have also urged the public to respect the privacy of the minor and refrain from sharing any information that could lead to her identification, noting that such acts are punishable under law.
