- KOHIMA — Phek District
Enforcement Force (DEF), in collaboration with Phek District Court and
Prosecution Wing, conducted a legal sensitisation on BNS, BNSS, BSA, NDPS,
POCSO Act and NLTP Act-cum-crime conference on May 2 at the office of the
superintendent of police (SP) in Phek town.
- An update from Phek Police stated that hands-on training on
legal procedures was conducted using case studies related to the NDPS Act,
murder cases and other laws.
- The district and sessions judge of Phek, Mezivolu T Therieh,
spoke on the significance of the criminal justice delivery system. She has
lauded the timely services rendered by the police and urged participants to
stay updated with technology used in the legal field.

- The chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of Phek, Holika Sukhalu,
made a powerpoint presentation on new and special laws. She emphasised proper
procedures and documentation in all cases.
- Also speaking on the occasion, the SP of Phek, Dr. Pritpal
Kaur, urged all officers to remain informed about new laws and their
procedures. She stressed the importance of teamwork in investigations and
called for regular training on legal procedures.
- Meanwhile, the additional public prosecutor Zheviholi, along
with assistant public prosecutors Samuel and Vetsuzo Tunyi addressed questions
and challenges faced by investigating officers (IO) during trials and
investigations.
- It stated that about 40 participants including staff from
the SP’s office, ASP, SDPO, PI court staff and all officers in-charge of police
stations attended the programme.
- The programme was chaired by Khuza Jurry, SDPO Phek, and the
vote of thanks was delivered by Bendang, additional SP of Phek.

- New investigation room inaugurated
- A new investigation room-cum-legal programme room was
inaugurated at Phek Police Station on May 2 for legal aid, investigations and
other legal programmes.
- The room was inaugurated by superintendent of police (SP)
Phek, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, and the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Holika
Sukhalu.
- An update stated that the room is equipped with modern
technologies such as audio and video recorders, CCTV, scalers and measurement
tools, which would aid investigation officers and legal teams in conducting
legal procedures.
