Peren and Phek district administrations have issued monsoon advisories urging residents to stay alert.
DIMAPUR — The district administrations of Peren and Phek have issued public advisories urging residents to remain vigilant as continuous heavy rainfall has increased the risk of landslides, flash floods and other monsoon-related hazards.
According to a DIPR report, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Peren, issued the advisory after a major landslide at Beilikui Ward in Peren town, triggered by incessant rainfall. The landslide has completely blocked the road, disrupted traffic and posed a threat to nearby infrastructure.
The district administration advised residents and commuters to avoid travelling through the affected area until road-clearing operations are completed and to minimise unnecessary travel, especially during heavy rainfall.
People have also been urged to stay away from steep slopes, embankments and other landslide-prone areas, monitor official weather updates and follow instructions issued by the authorities.
Residents have been requested to ensure the safety of children, elderly persons and persons with disabilities, and to immediately report any incidents of landslides, flooding or other emergencies to the nearest administrative office, police station or emergency response team.

The administration said it is closely monitoring the situation and appealed to the public to remain calm, cooperate with authorities and refrain from spreading unverified information on social media.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, warned that persistent monsoon rainfall could trigger waterlogging, flash floods, landslides and rising river and stream levels, particularly in low-lying and foothill areas.
As a precaution, residents have been advised to avoid riverbanks for picnics, fishing and other recreational activities during the monsoon.
The public has also been urged to report any monsoon-related incidents to the nearest administrative officer, the DDMA Phek helpline (9612991418), the State Emergency Operation Centre helplines (0370-2270129/30) or the toll-free emergency number 1070.
All area administrative officers, heads of departments, village disaster management authorities, village councils and ward authorities have been directed to remain on standby for prompt emergency response.
