Peren, Mokokchung hold District Planning & Development Board meetings

  • DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) for the month of June was held at DC's conference hall, Peren, on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and chairman, DPDB Peren, TR Zeliang.

  • In his address, the deputy CM said he was impressed seeing the officers and staff from various departments participating in huge number during the plantation drive, for which he extended his appreciation for their active participation, a DIPR report stated.

  • Stating that, proper maintenance is essential for survival as well as for growth and development of plants, Zeliang said the number of plants planted should be limited to a maintainable capacity. He also suggested the house to identify ideal time for plantation of trees.

  • Further, Zeliang asked those departments/agencies implementing the centrally sponsored schemes to work in close coordination with the district planning officer, so that the district will be transformed to a great extent.

  • After the review of the previous meeting minutes, DC Peren, Hiazu Meru informed those offices/departments housed at the DC office complex that a mass social work shall be conducted on the 4th Friday of every month.

  • On the agenda for proposal of pilot project for a private public partnership at GHS Nsong, Principal of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, Dr. Fr. Francis took time to explain the concept behind the project. After taking views and suggestions from the members present, the house decided to approve the proposal and forward to the government.

  • The proposal for registration of Rural Upliftment Society, Tening town, was deferred to the next meeting for further discussion as there was no verifying officer and members from the society to explain on the matter.

  • An official from Labour department gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the department’s initiatives and activities in the meeting.

  • The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by DC and vice chairman, DPDB, Hiazu Meru.

  • Mokokchung:  The monthly DPDB meeting of Mokokchung was held on June 5 at Dc's conference hall, under the chairmanship of MLA and chairman DPDB, Nuklutoshi. The meeting was also attended by TN Mannen, Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue.

  • Speaking on the agenda, the chairman urged upon the district administration to have a road map to collect plastic waste and to make Mokokchung plastic-free, a DIPR report stated.

  • Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma acknowledged the idea and concept of the chairman and emphasised that it can be achieved if all the stakeholders and head of departments under Mokokchung work together and co-operate. The DC also informed the board that the chairman will be donating six water dispensers to be installed at different locations in Mokokchung town.

  • The board also approved for provisional recognition of Little Friends Montessori pre-school, Tzusapang sector, and forwarded to the government for final approval.

  • As part of observing the World Environment Day, Advisor Mannen called upon all to preserve and protect the bio-diversity and flora and fauna in the district.
