Peren DPDB reviews developmental works and measles outbreak; Mokokchung DPDB meeting set for October 12.

DIMAPUR — The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Peren held its monthly meeting on October 6, while the Mokokchung DPDB has convened its monthly meeting for October 12.
The Peren DPDB meeting was conducted at the DC’s Conference Hall in Peren under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB Peren Hiazu Meru, according to a DIPR report.
The board reviewed the proceedings of its previous meeting and deliberated on the status of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation process of Peren Government College, Green Peren initiatives, the Green Peren Outlet at Jalukie, the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, the inter-departmental tournament, and the Barak River Catchment Area Project.
The board discussed a request from the Peren Town Youth Organisation for financial assistance from departments across Peren district to organise the 18th edition Inter-Ward Tournament of Peren town, scheduled for November. Following deliberations, the house decided to leave the matter to individual departments to decide.
The house also approved a proposal for the creation of a sub-centre at Mhaikam village.

Reviewing a measles outbreak in Peren district, Medical Superintendent Dr. Antoly Suu informed the board that confirmed cases were reported from Veterinary Colony and Jalukie B. She stated that the Health department is closely monitoring the situation, adding that cases are declining and the outbreak has been contained.
The DC stressed the importance of public awareness and noted that necessary advisories would be circulated to ensure preventive measures.
Regarding Reform Utsav, the DC informed that the central government initiative spans three months, from October to December, having been launched in the district at New Peren village on October 2. Briefing members on its objectives, he pointed out that obtaining citizen feedback is vital to identifying areas requiring improvement.
Discussing the Village Development Plan for New Peren village, the DC noted that during his recent interaction with villagers, limited awareness regarding rights and communication gaps were observed.
Stressing that awareness is essential for grassroots governance, the house constituted a committee with the extra assistant commissioner of Peren headquarters as convenor and the block development officer of Peren as member secretary.
The meeting also featured PowerPoint presentations by the Youth Resources and Sports department and the Forest department on their respective activities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma has convened the monthly DPDB meeting for Mokokchung district on October 12 at 11 am at the DC’s conference hall in Mokokchung. All members have been requested to attend.
