DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) for the month of January was held on Tuesday at the DC’s conference hall, district headquarter, Peren, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & vice chairman of DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
The house reviewed the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting, which included discussions on the adoption of Peren Government College, adoption of schools, hospitals and roads, adoption of villages under the Pilot Project, as well as initiatives on off-season crops and the Green Peren programme, a DIPR report stated.
Presiding over the meeting, the deputy commissioner welcomed all the DPDB members and extended New Year greetings. He appreciated the cooperation extended by all the departments in the past and urged them to continue the same in the new year to ensure effective governance in the district.
The board also deliberated on the work distribution for the upcoming Republic Day celebration 2026, during which various departments were assigned specific responsibilities. As part of the preparations, the house resolved to conduct a mass social work on January 23.

The deputy commissioner further observed that during past National Day celebrations, exhibition stalls were mostly set up by Agri & Allied departments alone, which he felt was not equitable.
Emphasising the importance of National Days, he stated that participation from all government departments is mandatory and proposed that exhibition stalls be set up by every department. Highlighting the challenges involved in organising events at the Peren district headquarters, Meru appealed to all departments to continue extending their cooperation and support to ensure the successful conduct of all programmes.
