DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Home and Border Affairs, Yanthungo Patton, has expressed deep concern and condemned the reported assault of a minor in Dimapur.
In a statement issued on Friday, Patton said crimes against children are among the gravest offences and have no place in a civilised society.
Describing the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” he conveyed solidarity with the minor survivor and the family during the difficult period.

Patton stated that the police have taken prompt cognisance of the matter and that the investigation is progressing. He expressed confidence in the law enforcement agencies and directed that all necessary steps be taken to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation.
He said justice should be delivered in accordance with the law.
The deputy chief minister also stressed that the identity, privacy and dignity of the minor survivor must be protected at all times.
He further urged all stakeholders, including members of the public and the media, to act responsibly and sensitively while dealing with the matter.
