Over half of Dzükou Valley has been affected as Indian Air Force and ground teams battle wildfire on day 25.

KOHIMA — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, on Thursday said that Indian Air Force helicopters carried out two rounds of Bambi bucket operations as part of ongoing efforts to contain the Dzükou Valley fire, which broke out on January 26.
The Dzükou Valley fire entered its 25th day on Thursday, with most areas largely contained, except for smoke trails visible in some pockets, he said.
Regarding damage, the DC observed that more than half of Dzükou Valley has been affected by the wildfire.

Buchem said that efforts are being made to contain the fire wherever it is active, adding that firefighting operations are continuing as the fire keeps shifting across different locations.
Manpower from the civil administration, police, and SAYO volunteers are working on the ground daily to monitor the situation, while the IAF continues aerial operations wherever active fire is detected, he added.
